Laughter is good for you. It is not being silly and not a distraction. It’s good to learn to laugh at home and at work and important to laugh with your colleagues. How much better to work in a happy environment?

VAGINA PHOBIA Why is the word “vagina” still such a taboo? Last month the e-book version of Naomi Wolf’s latest book: Vagina: A New Biography, was listed as V****a on Apple iTunes and the word was replaced throughout the book’s description. There was such a public outcry that Apple relented and the full word was […]
My 5 month old must be teething. She is chewing on everything from fingers (her own and other people’s) to toys and she drools so much she can run herself a bath almost anywhere. And I consider myself lucky, some mothers in my mum’s group are at the end of their wits with sooki, irritable […]
Monosodium Glutamate, commonly known as MSG, is a slow poison. It is disguised under 25 other names, such as “natural flavouring” and can even be found in some coffees overseas
I recently read an article on depression being rife in our aged care facilities. The article went on to say how medical researchers found that aged care workers working in the facility were unaware as to the extent that it was happening and that even elderly people are coving it up as they are somewhat embarrassed, feel that it is a part of getting older (which psychologically it is not) and did not want to cause a fuss.
BABY BOOMERS AND SAFE SEX! Looking for love online has become very popular these days, it once used to be a secret but now nobody minds anymore to admit to it. On-line dating is not only for the young, older Australians are also turning to the internet to find romance as many baby boomers find […]

Mothers never stop thinking. We plan, reschedule, worry, make lists, argue, calculate, create, and imagine things in our minds constantly. This morning I woke up at 5.30am. Not because my alarm went off. Not because a child had woken me. I just jolted awake before dawn had even broken and it only took my mind […]
On August 29th, the office of the Hon Tanya Plibersek, Minister for Health and The Greens issued a media release announcing a $4b package, over six years, which is aimed at improving access to dental care for children, disadvantaged adults and remote communities. Dentistry hadn’t been in the news this much, well…never and the politicians filled dental clinics all across the country for some snaps with kids in dental chairs. The announcement was welcomed by the Australian Dental Association, the Public Health Association of Australia and many dentists, myself included, across the country. So, how has the benefit of a couple of weeks post-announcement affected my sentiment about it?
Walking is often over-looked as exercise, but can be a great tool for improving cardiovascular fitness, reducing the risk of chronic illness, weight maintenance and weight loss.
My two year old looks like Mike Tyson. Post-match. She has a swollen nose, dried blood and scabs all over her upper lip, and a couple of nice shiners coming up. My tough little chic didn’t go three rounds in a boxing ring though – she went head-to-head with the edge of a terracotta pot […]
