Jansen Newman Institute
The Jansen Newman Institute (JNI) is known for offering practical, care-based education with courses in counselling, community, holistic health, social sciences and psychotherapy. The institute culture is one of personal growth, student-centred practice, rigorous academic tuition, and practical learning so students enter the work force prepared.
JNI courses have received extensive accreditation and awards as an organisation, so upon graduation students may enter their chosen profession’s industry bodies. Among many advantages, the college runs the WellBeing Centre at the Pyrmont Campus which offers students an opportunity to exercise practical skills and develop confidence as practitioners in the holistic services.
Programs at JNI can be chosen as short or long-term courses depending on your commitments and availability. In most cases students can choose between full-time, part-time, on-campus, or a combination of both.
JNI courses are recognised within the Australian Qualification Framework and have been accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA). JNI is also a member of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) and is run by the associated Code of Ethics in marketing, management and programs.
The Jansen Newman Institute (JNI) emerged from the Relationship Development Centre founded by Dr David Jansen in 1978. Dr Jansen was co-founder of the Phillips Graduate Institute (formerly known as the California Family Study Centre) for training of marriage and family counsellors in Los Angeles.
In 1981 Dr Margaret Newman joined Dr Jansen to form the Jansen Newman Institute for counselling, community and psychotherapy education and training. In recent years JNI has expanded to offer broader social sciences, including Community Services. JNI is now part of the Think Education Group which includes some of Australia’s most respected education providers.
