The ultimate nutella smoothie
Nutella? Yes, healthy and good for you Nutella. Ohhhhh… this smoothie tastes heavenly. I named it the Ultimate Nutella Smoothie because it reminds me so much of Nutella. And, I have to admit, that Nutella is one of my big weaknesses.
For those of you who read my first blog post, “For the love of food”, you know that I have battled with my weight for quite some years. In all those years, Nutella was my best friend. I could diet and exercise and do everything right but, once I opened a jar of Nutella, that was it. I used to be able to eat the whole jar in one go – and that would have been the big 750g jar! I knew that what I was doing was not right but I was never able to control myself and stop. By eating the Nutella, I used to make myself suffer not only physically but psychologically too.
I could diet and exercise and do everything right but, once I opened a jar of Nutella, that was it.
Thankfully, those days are over. I don’t buy Nutella anymore; I understand now that Nutella was my form of self-sabotage. I know that no good can come from eating a whole jar of Nutella and I still won’t buy Nutella and have it in my home, because it is still too big of a temptation for me.
This recipe for the Ultimate Nutella Smoothie came about by way of experiment, as most of my recipes do. I usually have a green smoothie for breakfast but, on that particular morning, I wanted to try something different. I am so glad I did because when I took that first sip of the smoothie, it tasted divine. It immediately reminded me of Nutella, and this is how the name came about.
Well, to be fair to all, it is not Nutella. But it really is the closest thing to it and, as a bonus, it’s healthy and good for you too. The Ultimate Nutella Smoothie is thick and creamy and has a fair amount of protein, carbs and healthy fats, so it is a perfect post-exercise meal!
