Cinnamon Doughnuts

If you don’t love a still-warm cinnamon doughnut, then we can’t be friends anymore. Make these traditionally deep-fried treats much healthier by baking them instead.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 250mL milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 125g butter, melted & cooled
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 75g brown sugar
  • 300g plain flour
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 120g sugar

Method


  • Preheat oven to 180°C and grease a 12-hole doughnut tin.
  • In a large bowl, whisk eggs lightly, add sour cream and whisk to combine.
  • Add milk, vanilla and melted butter. Mix well.
  • Whisk in baking powder and salt, mix thoroughly.
  • Mix in brown sugar and then flour, mixing until smooth.
  • Spoon or pipe into doughnut tins and bake for 20-25 mins until pale golden.
  • Cool in pan for 5 mins, then remove to a cooling rack.
  • Mix cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl.
  • Working 1 at a time, brush warm doughnuts on both sides with melted butter, place in the bowl of cinnamon sugar and coat well.
  • Enjoy while still warm.
