Homemade Pizza Dough

3 gourmet homemade pizza recipes to inspire your mid-week dinner plans

Made using only the best-quality farm-fresh milk sourced in Victoria, That’s Amore Cheese produces award-winning Italian-style cheeses that are proudly free of preservatives and artificial colours. Scamorza bianca is a gourmet mozzarella, perfect for melting. It is pear shaped due to a production method where the cheese is hung to dry, which results in a lower moisture content. For this reason, scamorza mozzarella melts exceptionally well on pizza, lasagne, eggplant parmigiana, toasties and hot dishes. Available in 250g and 1kg.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 220mL lukewarm water
  • 20g fresh yeast or 7g dry yeast
  • 1 tsp raw sugar
  • 400g strong white flour
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 30mL extra-virgin olive oil

Method

  • Combine water, yeast and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Combine flour and salt onto a clean surface and make a well in the centre. Pour water and yeast mix into the well.
  • Using a fork, slowly bring in the flour from the inner edge of the well and mix into the water and yeast mix. Continue to mix until combined, then use your hands to bring the dough together. Knead for 10 mins or until you have a smooth dough.
  • Brush a large bowl with oil, place the dough in it, cover with plastic wrap and leave in a warm place to prove for 1 hr, or until doubled in size.
  • Dust work surface with flour, divide dough into 3 equal balls. Cover each ball with plastic wrap and set aside for 10 mins before you work it.
  • Using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a rough circle, place on a tray brushed with olive oil, add your toppings and bake at 250°C for 10-15 mins until the base is nice and golden.
