Grassy sand dunes

How I found my heart by the ocean

What is the ocean? It’s home.
Pohaku Stone, Surfer, Hawaii

Taking a long walk along the esplanade and then on top of the very windy jetty (boardwalk), I looked down to see this heart in the sand.

The windy day unveiled what Mother Nature drew with seagrass, grain by grain sweeping away to reveal the almost unbelievable and perfectly formed shape of a love heart.

I wondered if children had made it? Or an artist? I had no camera so I raced back to my home and started charging the digital.

An hour later I went back to the beach and first took a few overhead photos from the jetty.

I then walked down to the outside of the heart and tugged at the seagrass.

It was firmly fixed and had grown this way!

The windy day unveiled what Mother Nature drew with seagrass.

I wondered why nobody else seemed to notice it … there were people walking dogs, children playing and plenty of people fishing.

I stepped right inside the heart and made a few strong wishes.

Surely this kind of natural formation has a lot of good energy!

Two days later, the dunes were bulldozed to move the beach sand as is done every year.

I am still in awe of how I found my heart by the ocean and have this photo blown up poster-size and framed as a reminder.

What have you noticed that Mother Nature may have grown especially for you?
