Negative emotions and your health

Negative emotions can have a huge impact on how you perceive your day, and your whole life. Negative emotions affect how the body functions, how you think, your spiritual connection and your energetic balance. Different chemicals release for every different emotion. Chemicals such as cortisol are associated with stress and fire up the fight or flight emotions.

What decides how you react?

People who spend a lot of time judging and criticising often have a cynical outlook on life. Sometimes that negative emotion comes from the way they feel about themselves. They are disgruntled and unhappy and often have a huge unfulfilled empty hole inside them that they are attempting to fill. Instead, they get caught in the negative emotion trap and create a circular pattern where the negativity flares more negativity. So why does one person react with a negative emotion while someone else may just brush off an incident and move on?

You are responsible for your negative emotions

Our emotions often depend a lot on perspective so it is not the incident that is positive or negative rather the person’s perception of an incident that triggers a negative emotion in them. This fosters a chain reaction involving synapses in the brain, release of different chemicals which in turn triggers the person on all levels. It is possible to become aware of how your negative emotions trigger you and to jump in before they start the cycle again so you can change the patterns of how you act. You can practise this by watching your ‘head talk’ and what ideas go through your mind when you feel negatively towards something. We are all good at head talk so why not use it to our advantage? Next time you feel a negative emotion, first think to yourself that it is your choice. You don’t have to feel like this.

Negativity you experience in the past does not have to set the pattern for now or in the future. Try to find when you last felt like this and why. Remember that negative emotions you felt then are in your past and now you are moving towards a better, healthier future. You have the power to change those negative emotions with positive head talk, awareness and analysis of why you feel the way you do. However you need to be honest with yourself and if those negative emotions are in some way giving you a pay-off and serving you, then you need to acknowledge that and find new, healthier ways to fulfill your negative needs. An example of this would be if the negative emotions draw you negative attention and fulfill your need to feel wanted and loved and the centre of attention. If you are honest with yourself then you become empowered to change that pattern.

Another way is to accept the negative experience as being just that and accept that it is okay to have negative emotions as a stepping stone to grow and develop.

Heal the negative emotion, heal the body

Your feelings and your body have a powerful connection and if you can turn your negative emotions into positive ones it is a way to alter your complete lifestyle. Slowly, you can change those negative thoughts to create a positive empowered life instead of letting those negative emotions build into destructive patterns that create conflict, internal issues and miscommunication. Continual negativity is stored in the cellular memory in different areas of our body and this causes blockages in our energy and creativity. Then we feel heavy and blocked and find we can’t move on.

It is said that different areas of the body hold different emotions and you can tell from where the discomfort is as to what areas are blocked. An example would be someone who has arthritis and their body is stiffening up in pain similar to the pain they feel from their stiff attitude to life. This connection is good because as they work on relaxing their stiff attitude their aches and pains start to become less also. This does not mean that the person stops healthy eating or the supplements they may need to take for arthritis. Remember the body is a package and the negative emotions getting caught in the knee or elbow areas is only one part of the package. Pain is a sign that our body is asking for attention and healing the negative emotions usually heals the physical in many ways.

Empowering yourself

There are a variety of studies investigating the effect of words expressing anger, jealousy and hatred on water crystals. It has been discovered that the negative emotions associated with these words carry toxins which can harm the body.

Since the emotions are yours and this is your body, you can become empowered to handle the emotions and therefore bring about good Health. So begin to watch how you handle negative emotions and what triggers them. Then you can put in place a strategy of handling the negative emotions, your perception and how you react. This helps you to determine how to ‘act’ rather than ‘react’ and positive action will propel you in a positive direction. Do this often enough and you will find those negative emotions pretty soon become replaced with positive ones.

If you find however that you are floundering with the change in perception, there is always help at hand through proper natural supplements such as vitamin B and St John’s Wort, Bach or Bush Flower remedies, counselling, NLP, hypnotherapy or meditation. Whatever technique works for you is the best one for you and, with practice, your whole life can change and become more positive.
