Deep Blue Hotel and Hot Springs is a wellness destination situated in Warrnambool, a beachside town three hours’ drive west of Melbourne. The resort is surrounded by unspoilt beaches which are abundant with native coastal floral and tea trees. This helps to create a sense of peace within the guests — and that’s all before you even begin the relaxing programs on offer.
A wealth of immersive wellness and spa experiences are provided at the Deep Blue, with each one designed to enable escape from the everyday and promote a sense of rest and wellbeing. Guests can enjoy the hot springs sanctuary, the bath house, the day spa, the salt room and the sophisticated hotel accommodation for an unforgettable relaxing experience.
Positioned in the foreshore precinct of a seaside city, the Deep Blue is also a gateway from which to explore the surrounding beaches and coastal walks, and some of the city’s best coastal and regional attractions.
The experience
Start your Deep Blue experience with a visit to the hot springs. Enjoy the natural geothermal mineral water with its health-restoring properties in an open-air sanctuary like no other. “Fifteen curated and immersive geothermal rockpools, sensory caves and cleansing waterfalls lay waiting to be explored,” Lauren Orero, Marketing Manager of the Deep Blue, says. “Two cold plunge pools are inviting for bathers who wish to partake in contrast therapy, alternating between the hot and cold pools to improve blood circulation.”
There’s also an aromatherapy pool featuring signature seasonal blends to add a layer of indulgence for the senses.
For those seeking an indoor option, the original bath house is the perfect choice. Immerse yourself in the communal therapeutic geothermal waters or bathe in one of four separate private rooms.
Yet the Deep Blue offers more than water therapy. The day spa has an extensive treatment menu with relaxation massages, hot stone massages, facials and signature spa journeys, using Pevonia Botanica products, all on offer. And, at the end of a day being pampered and relaxed, nothing is better than a visit to the purpose-built salt room with its salt-lined floor, ambient setting and lounge chairs, where guests can relax and benefit from respiratory cleansing.
Food and accommodation
The accommodation at the Deep Blue caters for different requirements and budgets. “A palette of soft seaside tones adorns the 80-plus guestrooms sprawled over the five-level hotel, many of which offer ocean glimpses from the room or private balconies,” Lauren says. “Each room is well equipped with a large lounging chair, mini bar, desk and pillow-top mattress for added comfort, with split-system and geothermal heating for the purest of warmth.”
A studio queen room starts from around $170AUD per night, with an ocean-view king room starting from around $194AUD per night.
A further five penthouse apartments are suited for families or small groups with configurations ranging from two to four bedrooms. Each penthouse apartment boasts enviable views across the surrounding foreshore area and is equipped with its own kitchen, dining and lounge area, and the two-bedroom penthouse starts from around $425AUD per night.
A casual onsite restaurant serves breakfast and dinner. Each night, a tasteful and seasonal menu is created by experienced chefs with a flair for combining fresh and flavourful food elements. Sit back and enjoy a replenishing meal or a drink at the accompanying bar and firelit lounge.
