Immunologic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

This conditions results from a disorder of blood that leads to low levels of platelets. Platelets are essential for the normal clotting of blood. The condition is considered to be chronic if it lasts for over six months.

Causes: drugs, infection, pregnancy, immune disorders and lupus

Symptoms: abnormal bleeding (bruises or red dots on the skin), bleeding from the gums or digestive tract.
