Insect allergy

People can experience an allergic reaction in response to being stung by insects such as bees, hornets, yellowjackets, wasps and ants. If a person is highly allergic to insect venom they can go into circulatory shock, a coma and eventually death within a matter of minutes.

Symptoms of an allergic response: wheezing, tightness in the throat, nausea, hives, diarrhoea, pain, swelling and respiratory distress.

Symptoms of a severe allergic response: confusion, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, drop in blood pressure, laboured breathing, weakness, swelling and anxiety.
