Abscess
An abscess results from the accumulation of pus in a tissue due to an infection. Often the affected tissue can be swollen, red, tender and inflamed. If the abscess appears suddenly it is considered acute, whereas if it is present for days-weeks it is considered to be chronic. An abscess should start to heal within a few days if treated.
Symptoms: Pain associated with inflammation, fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite and fever.
Who to consult: Herbalist. If pain, redness, swelling, bleeding or discharge increases it is important to consult your GP or dentist immediately.
