Naturally good snacks helping New Zealand — Holistic Q&A with Tasti NZ

We chat to Tasti NZ about humble origins, protecting New Zealand’s birds, and how being natural makes the best snacks. 

How did Tasti NZ get started?

Tasti is proudly a New Zealand-owned food company, founded back in 1932, when two young friends with a passion for food starting making and selling crystallised ginger. They started out with modest ambition, but before long they built a strong following amongst on-to-it bakers. This eventually saw their range expand further with selectively sourced, quality ingredients such as fruits, nuts and seeds. Tasti’s entrepreneurial spirit did not stop there, as the pair eventually began mixing those quality ingredients together to produce great-tasting snacks. 

Since its inception, Tasti has continued to innovate, becoming a household name and a snacking staple in each Kiwi’s pantry.

Why are real ingredients important for our snacks?

Everyone knows that real nourishment means hitting the perfect balance of healthy and Tasti. And that’s what our food is about. Getting loads of healthy natural ingredients together in the most delicious way possible.

What is the guiding philosophy behind Tasti today?

Our food is made with generosity. We don’t believe in cutting corners or skimping on the good stuff. Every one of our products is made with simple, natural and most importantly, Tasti ingredients. .

How do you support local New Zealand businesses?

Tasti is proudly a New Zealand-owned company, we are a large NZ manufacturer that sources as much of our raw materials locally as possible.

How does Tasti support the environment? 

New Zealand’s environment is our backyard. And every product you buy helps us to take care of it. Way back in 2006, Tasti owner created the Forest Lifeforce Restoration Trust – an organisation that works to protect the threatened bird species like the Kiwi and the Whio (blue duck) and to restore the life-force of New Zealand’s native forests. And for the past 15 years, Tasti has donated profits from the delicious food to make this work happen.

What is your favourite snack in the Tasti NZ range?

Tough question, as it depends on what I am craving, my current favourite is the new Salted Caramel Smooshed ball – YUM!!!

What has been Tasti’s biggest achievement of 2021? 

Our biggest achievement is the exciting innovation we are about to launch, there is something for everyone.

What should we expect to see from Tasti for the near future and beyond?
