“Your mind is your instrument. Learn to be its master and not its slave.”
– Some yoga wisdom from an unknown master (tell us if you know who it is)
I get a giggle from popular portrayals of yogic mediation as controlling the mind. Maybe meditation is taught like this in some parts, but for me the word “controlling” implies far too much effort! For me it is more like watching – much easier, and less in need of the human skill of “denial” to make it work.
We in the West do love to make things effort – effort is our language, being receptive is almost counter-intuitive. Today I wish for nothing but to receive whatever comes.
