An Apple A Day – To Nourish Your Life

Welcome to my first blog for Wellbeing!  For as long as I can remember, I have loved to cook and learn about nutrition. I am always on the look out for new foods and ingredients that empower our bodies and ultimately our wellbeing.

Healthy food can make you energised, healthy and even more beautiful; poor nutrition choices can make you feel fatigued, unhealthy and can lead to weight gain.  I am a firm believer that the “right” foods have medicinal value to nourish your body and can even lead to solutions for health issues we face.

I am inspired when I see people who have overcome weight issues and serious illnesses by implementing healthy eating habits by substituting foods they’ve grown up on and fearful of departing, with nutritious alternatives.  There are so many alternative options around for the foods we have become accustomed to – like spaghetti made out of 100% black beans, breads made out of buckwheat flour and raw crackers made out of pumpkin seeds and flaxseeds – all it takes is a little creativity.

I enjoy finding and learning about new foods and their nutritional health benefits, tasting them and matching the flavours with other foods and introducing them to friends and family with my “throw together” recipes. I build my meals around super foods, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats that are satisfying to eat.  For me, it’s about keeping the balance between good tasting foods with healthy ingredients and keeping the calories low.

I hope to motivate, inspire and excite you with a continuous selection of great, nutritious recipes while taking the mystery out of strange and unknown healthy ingredients and making them taste great. I’ll also give advice on cooking and shopping for food as well as healthy entertaining.

Most of all – I want to increase everyone’s awareness of the foods you’re preparing, eating and serving to friends and family; after all food is one of life’s best pleasures.

Your body is a temple, but only if you treat it as one.

Enjoy!
