Creating the foundations of ritualist self-care

ritualist self-care

As a busy mum of a three-year-old and expecting another baby, finding time for self-care often feels like a luxury. That’s why MV Skintherapy, founded by the inspiring Sharon McGlinchey, has become my haven — it offers a calming escape amid the whirlwind of motherhood and life. McGlinchey’s mission to create organic, natural skincare with a transparent and honest approach aligns perfectly with my desire for ecoconscious, nurturing products that deliver results. But what sets MV Skintherapy apart is not just the nourishing skincare, it’s the rituals McGlinchey has built into the process, including her recently launched guided Mothers Meditations for mums like me.

The MV 3-Minute Ritual has become a cherished part of my day. For me, this time isn’t just about skincare — it’s a moment to breathe, reset and care for myself so I can care for my family. With McGlinchey’s beautifully crafted meditations, I can pause, close my eyes and let her soothing voice lead me through a moment of calm. The Mothers Meditation, in particular, has been an anchor during my pregnancy. It’s designed for mums who need to reconnect with themselves, even if only for a few minutes. The act of mindfulness combined with nurturing skincare is a gift to both body and soul, and McGlinchey’s voice feels like a supportive hand, gently guiding me back to a place of peace and stillness.

As for MV Skintherapy’s products themselves, if you know, you know. My morning ritual starts with MV’s Compress Cleansing Cloth and Gentle Cream Cleanser, which work together to deeply cleanse while leaving my skin feeling soft and hydrated. The warmth of the cloth, paired with the creamy texture of the cleanser, is both calming and invigorating. I follow it up with the Active Marine Mist, a refreshing spritz that wakes up my skin with the power of Tasmanian ocean kelp and niacinamide. It’s like a splash of the ocean, re-energising and instantly hydrating. I love it so much, I often mist throughout my day.

The real game-changer for me, however, has been the Rose Plus Booster, which I use in the evening over freshly cleaned skin. This stunning product has kept my skin soft, radiant and balanced, even through pregnancy hormonal shifts — and it smells so delicious.

As a busy working mum, I don’t always have time for lengthy skincare routines, but when I do have a few extra moments to myself, I use the 9 Oil Radiance Tonic. Four-to-six drops pressed into my skin followed by a two minute massage and warm compress gives me an instant glow, and the aromatic blend of organic oils offers a moment of aromatherapy in itself.

When I have time for another sacred moment, usually in the bath or shower, I unwind with MV’s Body Oil. I love lathering my body with this oil and having a warm soak. It is so nourishing and leaves my skin feeling deeply hydrated and smooth.

I also use MV’s Multibalm on my lips, dry patches of skin, my itchy shins (another strange pregnancy symptom) and on any abrasions or cuts my son accrues. It’s truly a one-pot wonder and is fi lled with anti-inflammatory omegas, antioxidants and healing phytonutrients.

I have never been a huge herbal tea drinker, but I have recently swapped out my nightly black tea for MV’s Radiance Tea. I fi nd it’s the perfect way to nourish from the inside out, and the soothing herbal blend complements a calming wind-down once the often crazy dinner, bath and bed routine with my son has been done.

What I have always appreciated about MV Skintherapy is McGlinchey’s commitment to sustainability and holistic skincare. Her products not only prioritise naturally sourced ingredients with high concentrations, but they also come with a deeper message: self-care is essential, not a luxury. Your skincare routine should be celebrated, not skipped over. Less is always more. You are worth a threeminute ritual.

By incorporating guided meditations, McGlinchey has created a brand that nurtures both the skin and the soul. For a busy mum, these rituals have been a reminder that taking time for myself, even in small moments, can make a world of diff erence to my day, to my body, to my parenting, to my life.

MV Skintherapy is more than just skincare — it’s a mindful, sensory experience that encourages you to slow down and reconnect with yourself. Whether you’re a mum in need of a moment of calm or simply someone who wants to nurture their skin in a loving and natural way, MV has something truly special to offer.
