This was the most important day of my business life…

I can still remember the moment it happened.

After 17 years of working for myself in the health and fitness industry, frustrated and pulling a regular 55 hour week and only barely getting by financially, my good mate Bret Thomson dragged me kicking and screaming to a business and marketing workshop in Sydney.

But what an important day that turned out to be! In that one day workshop, I had my eyes opened to a whole new way of operating my business, I was exposed to a whole new way of thinking about money and my right to earn it, and I discovered a whole new level of doing business that had previously been unknown to me, and had me so excited that I could barely get to sleep that night in my hotel room.

Even now I remember so clearly the moment when I stood on my 20th story balcony at 2am, looking out over Botany Bay in the moonlight, Bruce Springsteen belting out “Its been a Long Time Coming” on my Ipod, and my head swimming with possibilities for my business future at last!

I felt sure that I had reached a turning point, and I finally understood that I hadn’t been lacking in skills, dedication or commitment before hand, but I had simply lacked the knowledge of how to do it properly. It was almost like someone taking a blindfold off after 17 years and then pointing me in the right direction at last.

What an amazing feeling! And it turned out to be 100% accurate – because from that moment forward my business has multiplied many times over, I work less than ever, and life has never looked the same since! And it all came down to one decision to take a risk, and put myself in an environment where I was both out of my comfort zone and stimulated by new possibilities.

One of the ways in which my life has changed is I am now able to offer health practitioners  a similar “watershed moment” with regards to their own businesses.  I see so many great practitioners and healers out there doing such a good job at looking after patients, but are constantly hindered by their lack of business skills.

Since that magic moment standing on a balcony, feeling the elation rush through me, I have been lucky enough to have spent the last five years working “in the trenches” with hundreds of health practitioners  to find a way of fixing this, and I have discovered that there are some basic, fundamental principles that  need to be understood and embraced if one is ever to be truly successful in the business of health.

And now, as a teacher of these principles, I get the chance to “pay it forward” and empower great health practitioners and healers with the skills and knowledge of how to run their practices successfully and sustainably and in doing so provide themselves with an ideal lifestyle and their patients with a transformative health care experience.

There’s not many days when I don’t wake up and be thankful for the gift I have been given in being able to offer this. And it all stems back to that most important day.

All the best,
