Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 apples, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 40mL whisky
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup oats
Method
- Over a medium heat, add 1 tbsp of butter, apples and sugar to a medium skillet and cook for 5 mins or until the apples have softened.
- Add in whisky, 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1 tsp of vanilla extract, stir to combine and continue to cook for another 5 mins until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat. (Remember to use heatproof gloves as the handle will be hot.)
- In a small bowl, combine oats with the remaining vanilla extract, butter and cinnamon and sprinkle over the apples.
- Cover with foil and place back on the heat for 15 mins or until the top is crunchy and golden brown.
- Serve with ice cream.
- Tip: Try adding a handful of strawberries (in lieu of one apple) to add some extra sweetness and colour.
