Rooibos Honey-Poached Pears Recipe

These naturally sweet poached pears are the ultimate healthy dessert. Rooibos tea is a popular South African beverage that is naturally caffeine-free. Rooibos contains high levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds which make it beneficial for supporting cardiovascular health.

Rooibos Honey-Poached Pears Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 large pears, peeled
  • 3 tbsp raw honey
  • 2 rooibos tea bags
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • Coconut yoghurt
  • Crumbled walnuts

Method


  • Fill a saucepan with enough water to cover the pears (standing upright). Bring to the boil, then lower the heat to a simmer and add the honey, rooibos and cinnamon.
  • Cut the bottoms off the pears so they sit properly. Place pears in the pot and simmer for around 20 mins.
  • Serve the pears with coconut yoghurt and walnuts with some of the pear syrup.
