Discover Beautiful and Peaceful ikatan Day Spa in QLD

Discover ikatan Day Spa in QLD

Located just 15 minutes from the centre of Noosa, ikatan Day Spa is a short drive from Sunshine, Peregian or Coolum beaches and only 10 minutes from the famous Eumundi Markets. Created in the style of a Balinese village, ikatan Day Spa offers authentic treatments designed to heal and relax.

The experience

Ikatan in Indonesian means “connection”; in Balinese, “ikat” means “to make by hand”; and the full word “ikatan” is Balinese for “hand-loomed sarong”. Bringing all of these meanings together, ikatan Day Spa represents a place where people feel connected, treatments are made with caring hands and guests are covered in traditional Balinese soft cotton-loomed sarongs for privacy and comfort during treatments.

If one were to devise the ultimate day spa encounter, it would surely combine the best of natural therapies with an environment that excites the senses and celebrates nature. From the beginning, ikatan Day Spa feels like a tropical holiday. Indeed, it could be described as Bali, Noosa style, surrounded by tropical gardens where life moves at a slower pace. The spa has been voted one of Australia’s top five destination day spas, has won the Luxury Travel Guide Asia and Australasia Excellence in Service award and has been shortlisted in the top five for Global Spa of the Year in 2017.

Architecturally, ikatan follows a Balinese village concept where treatment rooms are villa style set among tropical gardens with a choice of two double and four single air-conditioned rooms featuring individual sound systems and showers for body treatments. One of the double rooms has a traditional Balinese thatched roof and is dedicated to massage and facial treatments only.

The Garden Room is a large purpose-built outdoor undercover communal room where head massages, feet and hand treatments take place. This tranquil and nurturing location is very popular for group treatments.

Gardens are located throughout the property, including a walkway through tropical rainforest plants from the treatment area to the relaxation gardens, where guests can enjoy lunch, snack platters or high tea as well as a choice from ikatan’s wine list while relaxing before or after treatments.

There is no hard sell of products by therapists to guests at ikatan; instead therapists escort guests to the garden with a complimentary beverage and say goodbye leaving the guest to relax in the purpose-built gardens for some “green therapy” until they are ready to face the world again. Should guests wish to buy retail, all reception staff are trained therapists and are there to help.

The treatments

ikatan is renowned for offering an authentic, traditional Balinese-influenced spa experience. All facials use quality Organic Nation, Uspa and Environ cosmeceutical skincare products.

The spa menu has an extensive range of packages and treatments ranging from one hour to the popular eight-hour Retreat Day Package, all of which have a focus on wellness, including an additional special menu that changes with the seasons.

You might for instance like to try the Mantra Massage, especially developed by ikatan Day Spa. Mantra is a physical experience designed to have positive effects on mental health and emotional stress. Mantra is more than a massage; it helps bring your mind to the present moment and helps you forget about your world beyond the experience. It features warm oil and long, flowing, continuous hand and forearm movements as your limbs are gently stretched and massaged at the same time. Your back is massaged twice, while your muscles are worked in a continuous flowing movement.

You can also partake in the eight-hour Retreat Days, which involve yoga, meditation, foot rituals, massage and special meals. Group bookings for corporate, hen’s days, baby showers and birthdays are very popular.

The food

A range of food options are available at ikatan to suit your tastes and needs. You are able to choose from high tea, light lunches, tapas, snacks and nibbles along with a tea menu and wine list including non-alcoholic sparkling, which is popular with pregnancy treatments. All guests receive a welcome drink on arrival and complimentary champagne or pot of tea after treatments in the gardens.
