NCC scholarship winner announced

WellBeing magazine would like to congratulate Sheridan Gray, the winner of the Nature Care College scholarship competition for 2014. Sheridan has won a scholarship valued at $7000 to complete the first year of an Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Medicine.

NCC staff were so impressed with the calibre of the applicants and the quality of the entries that they also awarded three Certificate of Nutrition scholarships to the runners up.

Sheridan, who is 43 and a mother of two, currently works as an outreach worker for people who are living with mental illness and other illnesses such as diabetes, cancer and behavioural disorders and their families.

She has also volunteered in the past with children and adolescents with development disabilities and recently volunteered at the Hunter Homeless Connect day in Newcastle.

In her entry, Sheridan says one of her major goals is to raise awareness about added toxins in food and genetically modified organisms and their connection to the rapid increase in disease and illness.

“Knowledge is power and I feel it is the time for more transparency and ethical practices in regards to food production, manufacturing and labelling laws and for people to take back control of what they are consuming.”
