Why are you so passionate about sun safety?
My younger sister was diagnosed with a melanoma on her arm that required removal and left a terrible scar. This made me learn how I can protect others from going through the same thing she did. I channelled my anger at the false and misleading claims out there about “natural” products and drew upon my love of organic ingredients to start my own brand, Eco Tan.
Why did you introduce sun care products into your line?
Eco Tan x Eco By Sonya Driver was founded because of sun cancer. As we’re based in Australia, sun safety is part of our DNA.
How does Eco Tan Sunscreen work?
Our Face Sunscreen has been thoroughly tested according to Australian government standards by the TGA to effectively protect your skin from the sun’s dangerous rays. We have formulated it brilliantly with ingredients that won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts on the skin. Our sunscreen feels light and the best thing is that nobody knows you’re wearing it as it’s not thick, white or greasy. It also acts as an amazing primer under makeup.
Why is sunscreen important, even on cool or cloudy days?
Ultraviolet rays (UVA and UVB) are still just as strong, if not stronger, on cloudy days. A lot of people don’t know that UV rays still shine through on overcast days, so whether it’s rain, hail or shine, you must apply sunscreen.
What else can we do to protect our skin from UV damage and premature ageing?
You can protect your precious skin by wearing a hat, staying in the shade and making sure you apply enough sunscreen. I know it’s tedious, but please don’t forget to reapply sunscreen every two hours. A sun safety tip that isn’t so obvious is using self-tan instead of baking your skin to a crisp in the sun.
Don’t stress your skin out for a suntan; do it the safer way with Eco Tan’s Certified Organic Tans. In fact, we produced Australia’s first certified organic tanning range.
