Gyokuro is the most precious of all Japanese green teas. Like Matcha, the tea leaves are also shaded prior to harvesting making it vastly rich in L-Theanine (A natural mood enhancing amino acid). The precious tea leaves are steamed, dried and rolled into thin needle-like leaves.
It should be brewed at lower water temperature to exhibit a pale green liquor that is distinctly mellow and sweet in umami flavour. Due to the teas’ delicate and strict harvesting methods Gyokuro is more of a ‘special occasion’ tea. Reserve this tea for those occasions, as it is an experience that should be savoured whenever you wish to treat yourself.
