These Paleo Pork and Haloumi burgers were the best burgers I had in a while. They were moist and juicy and really tasty. Trust me…just ask my boys.
I had some pork mince in the fridge and really wanted to make something a bit different for dinner. I decided to make burgers. Now I know you’ll say that a burger patty calls for beef, but i thought I’ll try and use this beautiful organic, free range pork. To ensure the patty was moist I experimented with a couple of other ingredients. And as I intended for the burgers to be a perfect low carb high fat meal, I wanted to make sure the burger patties had heaps of flavour.
The burger patties did not disappoint and they got the “man tick” of approval from Mr Food Nirvana and the boys. Here is the recipe, hope you enjoy.

Recipe
Ingredients
- 500 gr pork mince (organic & free range if possible)
- 1 Spanish onion chopped finely
- 1 large clove of garlic crushed
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup of sparkling mineral water
- 1 tbsp aluminium free bicarb soda
- 100g of finely cubed haloumi cheese
- 1 large roasted capsicum, chopped finely
- 1 small chilli chopped finely (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and let it stand in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Heat some macadamia oil in a frying pan, form patties and shallow fry until cooked through and golden in colour. Remove and drain on a paper towel. Serve with your favorite salad ingredients (lettuce, tomato, onion), gherkins, bacon, extra cheese and a bun if desired. I served mine on a few lettuce leaves, with avocado, bacon, onion and jalapeno cheese – it was delicious.
