Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 bunches broccolini, chopped in half
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 700g-1kg porterhouse steak, cut into slices
- Sesame seeds, optional
- ORANGE SAUCE:
- 1 cup orange juice with pulp
- 2 tsp cornflour
- Zest 1 orange
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 2 tsp minced ginger
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp minced chilli
- 1 tsp kecap manis
- 6 fresh basil leaves, chopped finely
- Cooked rice or rice noodles, to serve
Method
- On a medium-high heat, whisk together orange juice with cornflour to ensure there are no lumps from the cornflour.
- Add in remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil, while continuously stirring for 3-5 mins until the sauce thickens and slightly caramelises. Turn off heat and set aside.
- In a wok or large frying pan, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil on a high heat. Add in broccolini and stir for 2 mins. Add half the orange sauce and continue to stir for another 2 mins. Broccolini should still be crunchy.
- Remove from wok and set aside in a covered container to keep warm.
- Heat remaining olive oil in the wok and add in sliced steak, sear for 1-2 mins on all edges and add in remaining orange sauce and stir well for 5 mins.
- Return broccolini to the wok and toss well to combine with steak for 1-2 mins.
- Divide into portions for serving. Top with sesame seeds.
- Serve with rice or rice noodles
- Tip: Using pre-cut stir-fry beef can remove a step for an even quicker stir-fry.
