Ingredients

  • 900g beef, diced
  • 2 tomatoes, halved & sliced
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 2 lemons, quartered
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp granulated garlic
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 tbsp cracked pepper
  • 1 pack pita bread
  • 1 tub tzatziki
  • 1 Spanish onion, halved & sliced

Method


  • In a bowl, combine beef, thyme, oregano, parsley, garlic, oil, salt and pepper and marinate for 2 hours.
  • Thread beef onto skewers.
  • Heat barbecue over medium-high heat and once hot, place the skewers onto the grill.
  • Turn skewers every min while basting with the leftover marinade until cooked.
  • Remove from barbecue and cover with foil. Meanwhile, grill the pita.
  • Reduce barbecue flame to low, brush pita with olive oil and turn for about a min on each side.
  • Smear each pita with tzatziki and layer on the salad and beef.

  • Tip: Use a piece of foil or baking paper to wrap the souvlaki to keep it all together.
