Chilli Chocolate and Pepita Brownie Biscuits

Chocolate and chilli may be better known for their aphrodisiac qualities, but the humble pepita has a lot to offer. Pepitas are chock full of zinc, which is particularly wonderful for the male and female reproductive systems. If that’s not sexy enough, there’s also plenty of magnesium to help you relax, and iron and protein for endurance!

Recipe

Ingredients

  • ½ cup pepitas
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup nut butter
  • 2 tbsp cacao
  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne powder
  • ½ cup chopped dark chocolate

Method

  • Preheat oven to 160°C
  • Place pepitas on baking tray and bake for 5–10 mins, or until just lightly roasted.
  • Whisk eggs and stir in nut butter.
  • In separate bowl, combine cacao, coconut sugar, sea salt, baking soda and cayenne.
  • Pour dry ingredients into wet and stir to combine. The mixture will be thick. Stir through chocolate and pepitas.
  • Spoon out tablespoon-sized portions, shape into rounds and place on lined baking tray. Flatten biscuits slightly.
  • Bake for 10 mins (you want them to be just undercooked inside to give you gooey brownie-ness).
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool before trying to move them as they will firm up as they cool.
