Often I’m asked the question what is well being and how do you get it (or get more of it). Well being is what everyone wants to feel often without knowing what it looks like or even how it feels. Often it just is to feel better than how I’m feeling right now.
To me, well being is a state that occurs on many levels. It is physical, mental, emotional and energetic and all of those areas interact with one another on a constant basis. For example it’s hard to feel overall well being if emotionally you are depressed or anxious or if you’ve had a big fight with your partner. Similarly it’s hard to feel emotionally well and positive if physically you have the cold or flu or some other physical problem.
For me the biggest contributors to well being is the emotional and energetic part. They are the most crucial elements to well being and also the most neglected. Let me briefly talk about those elements individually.
Emotional well being
Emotional well being refers to the ability to have a high emotional vibration, handle your problems effectively, really know yourself and what triggers you, be able to let things go, be in the flow of life, learn to be as well as do and connect with others from this space. It’s also about letting go of the story we have all created about our life so far (and for some of us our life into the future as well). It’s also about looking for emotional patterns you get yourself in to, attracting the same partner, being unappreciated at work, being taken advantage of by friends or bosses, feeling less than or better than people. The more you know about yourself the better life is and the higher your vibration is (for more on this see my other blog on emotional vibration).
What I mostly see as our main problem is that the ego does not want to face any problems. It doesn’t want to know why things happen or look at patterns or take any responsibility so it buries its head in the sand and when this happens we end up getting more of the same from the universe. Trust me when I say issues do not go away ever. They either turn into illness (like colds, flu or worse), other physical problems (like insomnia, feeling stressed or depression) or come back to haunt you in the form of another similar experience. It also creates anxiety as you still know they are there under the surface.
Energetic well being
The next element is energetic well being. The energy around our body is known as our aura and within it is held every experience we have ever had. Energetic well being occurs when we give our aura a spring clean by working on our emotions and issues, eating the right food, exercising, not doing too much and also by things such as going for a swim in the ocean (the negative ions in the sea clean out the aura).
When we don’t flush out our aura and we instead choose to bury a problem and not deal with it, our aura becomes clogged and toxic. It also then signals to the universe for more of the same as we have obviously not got the message of why it has happened in the first place. It’s the law of attraction.
Life with well being
When we have well being on all levels what I find happens is life becomes very easy and very effortless. Everything seems to flow, there is no drama, no negativity, nothing overly stressful, when something comes up it lasts for 5-10 minutes and then peace is restored. When a stressor comes along you have the reserves to meet and manage it. When all systems are full and clogged and another stressor comes along everything tends to fall apart, or we get sick or have a car accident. Ever notice how those things often happen?
So have a think about how you could make some changes to get some more well being in your life. Even if you start with 1 level it’s better than nothing. Usually they all start to fall into line especially if you start with the emotional element.
