I see things in nature

I have this thing with nature … I see things.

Like the shape of a love heart in the sand grown wild out of seagrass.

Or a baby being held in the womb grown as part of a tree.

And this one, a love heart shaped out of rock.

The rock is divinely carved, weathered by time, rain, wind, people’s feet and car tyres ~ this piece of cracked limestone is part of a dirt road on our farm. The road was carved with bulldozers a century ago and the rocks have been rolled and pummeled by a road grader hundreds of times. Yet there it is — perfect.

Obvious.

I don’t know how I spot these things.

I don’t actively seek a shape in nature.

They come to me.

I stumble into them, walk over them, drive past them.

I have found a smoothed heart-shaped pebble in the beach sand.

And dust on my car windscreen shaped into feathered angel wings.

A few weeks ago as clouds moved across the night sky, illuminated by the moon, I saw a cherub with trumpet shaped by the space between the clouds.

I am constantly in awe.

But is it a coincidence?

Or does it have purpose? A message?

Does it matter so long as it has meaning for me?

The next time you take a walk, a drive or simply sit and inhale for a while what are you noticing in the art of nature all around you?

Warmest Renee
