How to adopt an attitude of gratitude

Gratitude is such an important word in our busy lives and sometimes we forget to take the time to appreciate the small things that happen day to day. By stopping and really taking the extra time to really appreciate and show gratitude we increase our positivity, raise our vibration and alter our perspective to make our life happier.

Sometimes we forget to appreciate the little things in life and we look at the things that we feel are missing rather than expressing gratitude for what we already have. Gratitude for the feeling you get when you are given a long hug from someone you love. Gratitude for such things as a roof over our heads, food on the table, a job, being a mum or dad, having a partner, a friend, a family and even waking up to see the sky and sun. The simple act of a hug from a loved one, a partner, kids, parents or even a close friend is enough to alter how we may feel about our lives. So take the time from your busy life to slow down and appreciate those moments. Take a few seconds to stop and truly appreciate that hug.

Our kids

When we have kids and they are playing and being loud it can get too much, especially when you have had a long day at work and all you want is some peace and quiet and to relax. Stop and appreciate that your children are just being children. Take in that cute giggle and little laugh before they grow up. Show gratitude for the distraction they can give you because in years to come you will remember that little laugh, giggle and those smiles. Laugh with your children and perhaps all of a sudden your life after a hard day won’t be so serious after all.

=Q=When was the last time you showed yourself some gratitude?

For reaching that goal, for that promotion, for cooking a delicious meal, for getting all the ironing done despite the heat. Goals can be large or small and if we give ourselves gratitude for even the smallest ones reached we are building our own confidence. Sometimes we forget and get caught up in making the next goal, then the next and we forget to take the time to celebrate the goals we have already achieved. This can cause us to become less motivated with each goal we set. By taking the time to celebrate each and every goal we achieve we will feel even more positive and motivated to keep moving forward with the rest of those goals.

Celebrating with gratitude opens the way energetically to even more abundance.

The gym

Take in that feeling after a hard session at the gym and be proud of yourself and how hard you have just worked. Again this will help you feel more positive and motivated for the next session. This will in turn make you feel happier and healthier helping you to achieve the goals you have set for yourself in this area, whether it be to lose weight, gain fitness, or get stronger and healthier.

Lastly look at the wonderful sounds that come to your ears and show your gratitude for them by lightening your heart.

=Q2=Sing a song. Feel how powerful that can be.

A single song can change our mood faster than most things. Listening to certain songs can bring back dear memories – some sad and others memories from the best days of your life. Take the time to listen and feel the music and it will definitely impact your moods and relieve your stress.
