Discover Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa in VIC

Hepburn Springs’ only historic bathhouse has been providing traditional therapies since 1895. Drawing mineral-rich waters directly from the natural source, this iconic bathhouse reconnects you with an array of wellness experiences including indulgent 100 per cent pure private mineral baths and a selection of specifically designed wellness packages.

The miracle of mineral water

Balneotherapy, bathing in mineral water, has been practised for centuries in spas throughout the world to treat many ailments. Increasingly used for work-related conditions such as back problems and stress, balneotherapy is also proven very effective as an element of the rehabilitation process for conditions such as arthritis, depression and stress-related illnesses.

It’s a great way to relax the body and mind before your personalised spa experience. The heated mineral water relaxes your muscles and allows your pores to open so you can absorb a variety of minerals the water has to offer. The beneficial minerals include silica, which is great for skin, hair and bone formation; magnesium, good for muscles and essential for kidney function; and potassium and lithium for all-round mental health.

The experience

The historic bathhouse has received a $13 million makeover and boasts more than 30 wet and dry treatment rooms, making it one of the largest spas in the country. Enjoy indulgences ranging from the bathhouse social soaking experiences to the more exclusive Sanctuary bathing, which includes an aroma steam room, magnesium salt therapy pool, relaxation pool, spa couches submerged beneath mineral water and an extensive relaxation deck, outdoor spa pool, old pool and mineral hammam.

The relaxation pool is a mineral water blend heated to 34-36 degrees Celsius, the ideal temperature for the absorption of minerals through the skin directly into the bloodstream. This area is designed for peaceful relaxation and rejuvenation and is also suitable for gentle water exercise. There is an access ramp, seating and a separate lounge zone beside the entry stairs.

The Sanctuary welcomes anyone aged 16 years and older to relax on an underwater spa couch in the healing waters and enjoy a hydro massage. The Sanctuary also features a magnesium salt therapy pool heated to 38 degrees Celsius, filled with concentrated salt and mineral water to stimulate circulation, hydrate and detoxify the skin as well as help relieve irritated skin, muscle soreness and joint pain.

Private mineral bathing rooms are also available with a selection of wellness herbs, salts and remedies to enhance your experience of the rich pure mineral water. Luxury spa treatments and packages can be added to the mineral bathing experience for a complete wellness escape designed to reconnect.

Further mineral wellness experiences include therapeutic and relaxation massages, organic facials and a selection of indulgent spa rituals. Experienced spa goers will appreciate the sophistication of the extensive mineral-focused spa experience menu.
