Discover Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa in VIC

The historic Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa has been welcoming visitors since 1895 to bathe in the region’s mineral waters. Nestled within the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve near picturesque Hepburn Springs and Daylesford, the bathhouse and spa draws mineral waters directly from the original spring to offer a unique experience.

The miracle of mineral water

Balneotherapy, bathing in mineral water, has been practised for centuries in spas throughout the world to treat many ailments. Increasingly used for work-related conditions such as back problems and stress, balneotherapy is also proven very effective as an element of the rehabilitation process for conditions such as gout, arthritis, depression and stress-related illnesses.

It’s a great way to relax the body and mind before going into a treatment. The heated mineral water relaxes your muscles and allows your pores to open so you can absorb a variety of minerals the water has to offer, through the skin and directly into the blood stream. The beneficial minerals include silica, which is great for skin, hair and bone formation; magnesium, good for muscles and essential for kidney function; and potassium, for all-round mental health.

The experience

The Bathhouse offers private and social mineral bathing options and welcomes adults and children for a total sense of wellbeing.

The relaxation pool is a mineral water blend heated to 34°C. This bath is designed for peaceful relaxation and rejuvenation and is also suitable for gentle water exercise. There is an access ramp, seating and a separate lounge zone beside the entry stairs. A hoist is available for accessibility if required. A spa pool heated to a warm 37°C is also available in the Bathhouse.

The Sanctuary welcomes those aged 16 years and older to relax on an underwater spa couch in the healing waters and enjoy a hydro massage. The Sanctuary also features a salt pool heated to 38°C, filled with concentrated salt and mineral water to stimulate circulation, hydrate and detoxify the skin and help relieve irritated skin, muscle soreness and joint pain. A tunnel of natural light directly feeds into the circular pool.

The walk-in cool-down pool enables you to cool your body down gradually at your own pace, to comfortably extend your time in the naturally heated mineral baths.

The outdoor creek-side spa bath opens to the natural environment, so you can soak among the lush and tranquil Hepburn landscape.

The aroma steam room is highly humid and is heated to 39°C. Clear the mind while inhaling a gentle aromatic mist blend. This facility is great for sore, tired muscles and stiff joints, lymph detoxification, improving blood circulation, easing respiratory ailments and boosting the immune system.

The newly opened Hammam features a continuous flow of hot, humid air and heated seating, in a luxuriously designed Moroccan-style room, created specifically for an authentic Moroccan ritual experience.

Bathing and early-bird bathing is available for up to two hours. Sanctuary bathing includes full use of the Bathhouse and the Sanctuary. Twilight bathing is for one hour before closing time.
