A cataract is the clouding or thickening of the eye’s lens that impairs the ability of the eye to focus or allow in light appropriately.
Causes: diabetes, aging, heavy metal poisoning, radiation exposure, drugs (steroids), injury to the eye, free radical damage, exposure to UV rays and low level radiation from x-rays.
Symptoms: a gradual but painless loss of vision.
