Human beings, although we age, basically are set up to heal – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. When we become ill we become ‘ill’ in our ‘energy’ first. We even say that: ‘I am so tired to day; I just don’t have enough energy’. Little do we know that what we are saying is probably correct. Unfortunately, by the time it reaches a physical level, if we are tuned in, we have had clues on how to avoid getting ill.
Our energy runs in a pattern in our body. Over time this pattern develops temporary blockages and picks up rubbish we would be better off without. This could be negative emotions, incorrect thinking etc. This corrupts what would have been a good healthy pattern and makes us ill. This is a very simplistic explanation of course to assist those of you that are not familiar with this modality.
Reiki is the movement of energy in the body which precipitates the body’s natural healing processes. Energy is universal and the movement of energy, coupled with proper balancing of the energy centres in the body of the client, precipitates a healing effect. The client usually feels relaxed afterwards, joyful and much more at ease. Quite often it happens that the aches and pains which were there in the beginning are gone, if not immediately, after a few hours. Of course everyone is different and it depends on the illnesses already in your body.
When one attends a Reiki session the client usually need do nothing
Reiki is taught from student to teacher by traditional methods. It is a process by which the practitioner opens themselves up to the movement of healing energy through their body in order to try to help the client. The practitioner simply becomes a channel for the healing energy and does not, as such, do the healing themselves.
Sometimes however, after the treatment, a healing crisis can occur. A healing crisis intensifies the symptoms in order to clear them from the body. This is a little like the reaction we get when we have food poisoning and the body tries to expel the poison, one way or another. In a healing crisis the body intensifies the negative feelings or aches and pains until they leave the persons physical, emotional or mental being. This may result in the person not feeling very well for a while but is a good event because, in the long run, the body heals itself. Emotional and mental upsets can also be cleared in this way.
There are many other forms of energy healing as well as Reiki. Use the Internet to explore them all. As one of the Directors currently of Reiki Australia I often get asked where people should go to look for a practitioner or master to teach them Reiki. I would and make sure you see a traditionally trained practitioner for your session. It is a good idea to enquire about their training as learning energy healing cannot simply be done in one workshop and is a process. There are organisations which do register practitioners but simply because someone chooses not to belong to such an organisation does not necessarily mean they don’t know their stuff. Being good at what you do is not just about belonging to an organisation or even a certificate on a wall. Also its important to work with a practitioner with whom you feel comfortable. Reiki is very gentle and nurturing however it is totally natural so it does take time Keep in mind that there are no ‘magic’ wands as such. The only magic is the speed with which you will heal given the right circumstances.
