I fought with my mum ever since I had formed an opinion, which was possibly even before I had learned to talk.
Headstrong is as soft a term as mum would use to describe me, although possibly a character trait that is serving me well in the quest to conquer breast cancer naturally.
I have met so many fantastic mum’s over the years. There were the ones who allowed sleep overs and midnight snacks; the ones who let boys come over; the ones who didn’t tell your mum about that first cigarette; the ones who would take us to a party and let us stay until midnight; the ones who you could talk about your problems with openly without fear of punishment or judgement.
I have and still do work with some mums who are tireless in their commitment to their children and still manage to work at business until all hours. Lets not forget the Grandmothers whom these days play a much more active role in supporting those hardworking mums with the grandchildren.
Being a mum is a 24/7, 7 day a week, 365 day a year for life. As my mum and any mum will attest to that worry does not end the minute we move out of the nest.
Q: Where does that responsibility begin?
A: It begins long before conception.
Sydney based Natural Fertility Specialist and published author Gabriela Rosa speaks of the need make sure the body (this is for the men too!!) is detoxed for a minimum of 120 days prior to conceiving a child. This process is to rid our bodies of environmental toxins, excess hormones, bacterias such as yeast overgrowth.
Gabriela has achieved much success for couples who have previously had issues around conceiving.
For a majority of us we are blessed with the ability to carry and bring life to another human being. We as women, mothers, nurturers have a moral responsibility ensure that our health is optimal prior to conception and to become educated as to how we can provide nutritionally for our childs healthy growth and development.
Unfortunately there is a big chunk of this process slipping through the cracks. Only last week I learned of a young boy bounced back and forth between his separated parents who have very different views on what is considered healthy eating. This child consumes mostly fast food, is not even a teenager and weighs in the vicinity of 90kg!!!
Why is this not a criminal offence?? Nor reported as abuse to the Department of Human Services??
Sit and watch a bird feed its young. It goes out to seek food rich in nutrients which it then regurgitates to supply in predigested form so its young may absorb the nutrients.
Where does a frozen coke and a trans fat, sugar laden burger in supersized format fit into our human picture??
It is very difficult not to become emotional over this topic as children have no choice but to consume the foods provided by their parents. I have witnessed many cases of poor food choices in the past few years and it is an issue I am actively pursuing in the community to ensure that it does not become a norm.
A huge part of my plight to rid myself of breast cancer naturally is around the issue my choice to have a family. I have not had children ‘yet’. However, having one or both breasts removed, becoming infertile due to the chemotherapy, radiation and heading into menopause due to my age pretty much removes that option, at least of a natural process.
Treatment I am currently undertaking via doses of amino acids from Healthy Living is actually rebuilding and strengthening my reproductive system, restoring the hormone balance that contributed to the cancer growth and allowing me to have a healthy menstrual cycle which is part of the cleansing process for a womans’ body.
Part of honoring and respecting my womanhood is to nurture that what makes me a woman.
In spite of my rebellious younger years my mum has become one of the biggest supporters of my treatment methods. She knows me well enough to know I would do it my way anyhow. Mum, in spite of the skeptics around has not wavered in her view on the path I have chosen. In fact with each month that passes she has become more enthusiastic and excited by my health and vitality.
To my mum all the mums whom I know and to all the Mothers from every culture around the world. Thank you for bringing us children life and nurturing us with all that you could give.
Happy Mothers Day!
Note: For those who don’t know. The title for my blog is the name of the BBC sitcom that commenced in 1973. A classic comedy of the blunders and gaffs of Frank Spencer (Michael Crawford) after he has grown. A classic a enjoyed with Mum and Dad..
